He was also mentioned in a local newspaper as being appointed recruiting Sergeant on 8th March 1916. An interesting comment in the article says “Sergeant Dymock was wounded at Gallipoli with a gunshot wound in the shoulder”. No evidence can be found of John Corrie being at Gallipoli. His unit, when it reached Alexandria in Egypt, was immediately diverted to England.

The same newspaper reported his attendance at a Recruitment Association meeting, held in Kiama, soon after he was appointed to his role.

John Corrie Dymock married Millicent Smith on 18th March 1916 at the Christ Church, Kiama. How John Corrie and Millicent met is unknown.

The first of their children, John Roulston Dymock, was born on 1st January 1917 in the Emlyn Private Hospital, Summer Hill, Sydney. (The suburb of Summer Hill adjoins Ashfield where John Roulston stated as his place of birth on his enlistment papers with the army on 17th September 1940.)
